We are proud of our achievements. 

  • We have a strong leadership team which has the highest ambitions for our children and young people and supports workers to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people known to Dudley Children's Services

  • In January 2020, following an OFSTED assessment visit in December 2019, OFSTED noted “Leaders know the service well.” 

  • We have revitalised council leadership arrangements, a cross political and partner improvement programme which has accelerated our efforts to support and strengthen our alliances with partners to improve our collective offer to children and young people in Dudley

  • A consistent and stable staff group where the majority of Team Managers and Service Managers are permanent employees committed to supporting their teams to achieve good outcomes for young people

  • Dudley Children’s Services have successfully reduced the number of agency Social Workers to under 30% by increasing the numbers of permanent staff

  • Many agency practitioners have converted to permanent roles and now enjoy the benefits of being permanently employed in an environment where they are supported to develop their professional practice and improve outcomes for children

  • Caseloads remain stable with support from specialist teams including Child & Adolescent Response Team, Family Group Conferencing and a strong Early Help Network provision

  • A comprehensive and innovative training package ranging from full day face to face training to online and tailored team training programme is available to all staff

  • Dudley Centre of Professional Practice (CPP) Website is a one stop shop for free resources, research, learning and development opportunities. It offers links to online training and links to partner agencies so you stay one step ahead in key areas of practice and innovation

  • Dudley Centre of Professional Practice (CPP) were highly commended for the MJ Workforce Transformation Award in 2019. The CPP Team bring practice into the workspace with monthly visits to your workplace to share new ideas and direct work tools and ask your opinion

  • Recognition events are held for staff and children to recognise achievements and promote good outcomes in true ‘award ceremony’ style

  • Dudley is an active member of the West Midlands Teaching Partnership and supports the development of research in practice. This offers practitioners the opportunities to develop specialist areas of interest and bring theory back into practice and vice versa, whilst also contributing to the development of regional and national policy
